The Uncle Frank Children's Back-to-School Program was the brainchild of Little Falls resident Robin Campbell who suggested that the Coalition implement a program designed to provide shirts, pants, a sweatshirt or fleece, footwear and backpack replete with supplies for elementary school children in the area. She requested that the program be named in the memory of Frank Volo, a Little Falls man who had died heroically in Tennessee. Frank was attacked and stabbed by a wanted killer-he managed to shoot and kill his attacker before he died. Presently, Uncle Frank meets the needs of children attending Benton Hall Academy and the BOCES Migrant Worker Program. Many of its sponsors also participate in the Gram Lorraine Christmas Program. The program has been augmented by Jackie Dragotto and her associates at Herkimer's Bassett Health Care Center who have donated 50 backpacks and supplies for the past 10 years. Anyone interested in sponsoring a child can call Ray @ 315-866-7765 or Kelly @ 315-867-7765
